FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health has developed a new webpage to offer comprehensive information about contact lenses.
The goal of this new website is to centralize all current contact lenses information to give consumers one-stop access to the latest information about contact lenses. It provides up-to-date information about different types of contact lenses, how to get a prescription from your eye care professional and tips for buying lenses. In addition, the site also provides guidelines for proper use and every day eye care.
This website is not meant to replace a discussion with your eye care professional.
The new site will be available as of noon, May 12, 2006 and can be accessed at
http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/contactlenses/.
In view of the recent concerns about Fusarium keratitis and the need for careful eye and contact lens hygiene, this site may prove quite useful to many people.
